Then he admitted the awkward part. He has recused himself from the negotiations entirely, leaving two groups of independent directors to work it out without him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Deal Far From Done<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For all the excitement, Musk spent just as much time pumping the brakes. There are no deal terms on the table yet, and the valuation figures being quoted are estimates, not agreed prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He cautioned that the merger is "not a guaranteed outcome." Then he laid out the single biggest obstacle: Tesla's shareholder vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A deal like this needs approval from 50% of all Tesla shareholders. That's a high bar for any company, and Musk called it exactly what it is \u2014 "quite a high hurdle."<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AI Vision Behind It<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Musk's pitch for the merger isn't really about rockets or cars. It's about what sits underneath both companies now: artificial intelligence software, chip design, robotics, and space-based computing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The logic, as he tells it, is that Tesla and SpaceX are converging on the same future \u2014 one where AI, autonomous machines, and orbital data centers are a single business rather than two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
