He claimed she used a fake name \u2014 "Ilhan Nur Said Elmi" \u2014 to be sworn in, and he repeated a long-circulating claim that she married her brother to commit immigration fraud.<\/p>\n
Omar's position on those claims has not changed in years. She has repeatedly called the claim baseless and absurd. She says her legal name is Ilhan Abdullahi Omar. She has not admitted fraud, she has not resigned, she remains a sitting member of Congress, and she has not been charged in this matter.<\/p>\n
That is the shape of this story: a presidential accusation on one side, a flat denial on the other, and no court finding in between.<\/p>\n
The brother-marriage claim has circulated online for years. It has been investigated by journalists, denied by Omar, and repeated by her critics \u2014 including, now, the president himself at a campaign rally.<\/p>\n
